It was an awe-inspiring 45-minute discourse with inner meaning analysis hidden in that most popular four line 945 verses of DVG’s (D. V. Gundappa) Mankuthimmana Kagga revealed by a multifaceted orator K.S. Mukundan.
In gist, DVG has combined the philosophy of Veda, Upanishad, Bhagavad Gita and his own life experience in this great work, he said.
The jam-packed audience in that small Chaitanya Bhavana (Donor: Popular dancer and actor Vyjayantimala Bali & Family) in Sri Krishna Temple premises on Feb.2 listened with rapt attention.
Dr. K. Chidananda Gowda, former VC of Kuvempu University, Shivamogga, who inaugurated the programme, read a few very interesting extracts from the correspondence between DVG – Kuvempu and said Kuvempu was all praise for Mankuthimma and DVG’s worldly knowledge.
B.S. Sridhara Raj Urs, President of Krishna Ganasabha, in his welcome speech, said that it was his great desire that this discourse by Mukundan should be continued as a weekly programme in this Hall where a three-year-long discourse on Bhagavad Gita by Ramakrishna Ashrama Swamiji concluded last year. Mukundan readily agreed for it and the audience wholeheartedly welcomed it.
Prof. C.M. Muniramappa, Secretary of the Trust, proposed a vote of thanks. Earlier, Seema rendered invocation. Bharathi Urs compered the programme and introduced the speaker K.S. Mukundan. H.R. BalaKrishna, Jt. Secretary of the Sabha, introduced Dr. Chidananda Gowda.
Madegowda, former MUDA Chairman, K. Vijayakumar, retd. Jt. Director of Information Department, Trustees of Krishna Gana Sabha and Belaku Pratishtana who had sponsored the programme were present.
