Sir,
This refers to the write up ‘The Uncrowned Queen of Music’ by Dr. Manik Bengeri on Lata Mangeshkar (SOM dated Feb. 7, 2002). No doubt the Indian nightingale richly deserves the encomiums showered, but the way the writer expressed them are equally good.
A singer herself, Dr. Bengeri’s excellence in varied fields like literature, music, theatre, academics and handicrafts are praiseworthy. I wonder how could one acquire so many qualities besides one’s routine job (at Bank).
These are well-enumerated by Prof. A.V. Narasimha Murthy few days later in your sister publication Mysuru Mithra ( Mysurina Ditta Mahileyaru itta Hejje, Feb. 18, 2022).
This multi-talented personality, I feel, is the crown of our heritage city and is a model to our present generation.
