Mysore/Mysuru: Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has complimented the authorities of Mysuru and Bengaluru Divisions of South Western Railway (SWR) for the superb track maintenance between Bengaluru and Mysuru.
In his official twitter account, Piyush has said “The results of intensive track maintenance carried out between Bengaluru and Mysuru in Karnataka are there for everyone to see. The journey has become so smooth that not even a single drop of water spilled out of the glass while the train was travelling at high speed.”
Ashok Kumar Varma, Divisional Railway Manager of Bengaluru Division, SWR, came to Mysuru in Solapur-Mysuru Golgumbuz Express Train. During journey, he had recorded a 30 seconds video showing that not a drop of water spilled out of the glass while the train was travelling at 100 KMPH speech, and shared it in his twitter account.
Observing this, the Union Minister not only shared the video but also complimented the authorities concerned for the best maintenance of track between Bengaluru and Mysuru. During lockdown, the Railways took up maintenance of track to ensure the safety of travelling public.
Water glass test and our railway minister being happy about the achievement. In fact the Railway minister and his team of board officials should bow their head in shame. Bengaluru to Mysuru is around 130Km apart by Train track. The official train journey takes 2.5 hrs to 3 hrs of travel. This makes the average speed of less than 50 KMPH. With double track and electrification facility, only Railway jokers can pat their back. Indian Railways are talking of bullet train, which is another joke of this century. Yes, SWR has full of jokers in the pack.
@Prasanna
Since the days of steam engine trains between Mysuru and Bengaluru, a single train journey hovered around 3 hours. The distance is just 130Km as you have said. No technological miracle. For example, the Eurostar train which connects London to Paris, part of the track is below the sea laid inside a tunnel clocks just 2 hours 15 minutes for a distance from London to Paris of 491.8 km or 305 miles.
What is more important is the ticket price. The Eurostar tickets are constantly on sale if booked in advance , often selling at a good fraction of the normal ticket price.
Indian politicians boast about everything,, including the planning of a bullet train, whose tickets would not be within the budget of a normal Indian family. What is needed is a good reliable train departures and arrivals, reasonably priced tickets and above all covering the Mysuru-Bengaluru distance say in 90 minutes.
Overmanning, bad management, nepotism in promotions, corruption all around in railways, reflecting the norm of India today, are here to stay for decades.
@ Arun Rao
Your observations are right. I wonder why SWR are boasting of train travel between Mysuru and Bengaluru. They have electric locos which can touch 110KMph. An average speed of 80KMph is apt and the diatnce should be covered in 90min. Railway ministry in general and SWR in particular are filled with jokers, who have no time sense.
