Kevadiya: Paying rich tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the ‘Statue of Unity’ in Kevadiya, Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Today, I dedicate the decision to abrogate Article 370 taken on Aug. 5, 2019 to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. We’re fortunate that we could fulfil Sardar Patel’s incomplete dream. Chanakya also must be given the credit of uniting the country and after him this job of uniting India was done by Sardar Patel.”
“Jammu and Kashmir was the only state with Article 370, the only State where terrorism killed more than 40,000 people in the past decades. We were divided by a wall. But, Sardar Patel’s dream is now fulfilled, the wall has been demolished by us,” Modi said, amidst cheering audience.
“The physical and emotional connectivity between the North East and Rest of India was questioned on several occasions in the past. That situation has changed now. The problems that stood for decades have headed towards getting solved,” he added.
With the 182-metre ‘Statue of Unity’ towering over the event, Modi said the statue, tallest in the world, inspires the entire nation. “There will be political stability in Jammu and Kashmir. The game of government formation for personal benefits will be stopped. Discrimination on the basis of region will be stopped,” he declared.
The Prime Minister will also participate in the “Ekta Diwas Parade” and administer the oath of national integration before heading to Vadodara in the evening.
Modi forgets the History. When Mountbatten looking at Jinnah intransigence to have an Islamic nation carved out of the then India, suggested the partition of India as inevitable, it was Sirdar Patel who agreed instantly and lobbied Nehru to accept this approach. That is a historical fact. The problem of Princely State was mainly focused on Hyderabad with its Muslim ruler, the Nizam, who wanted to annex his state to Pakistan. Other princes were not opposed to let go of their privileges, while in discussion with Patel. Although in Patels short period as home minister, he died in 1950, there was fighting between India and Pakistan, the problem of J and K occurred later. Who knows what Patel would have done then. He was an old man in 1950 and would not have lasted when J and K blew up as an issue later. Modi is simply playing politics here. Removing Article 370 does not mean the J and K issue which has been with the UN will go away.
Building a tall statue in the style of: the Colossus of Rhodes” in ancient Greece, does not solve the problems India faces. Modi should focus on the economy which is tanking.
Removing article 370, and integrating these two states to Indian states, have other consequences. One can see the J A and K problem which Kashmiri separatists see can be solved only by creating a Kashmiri state, outside India and autonomous is gaining ground internationally. It is becoming a problem like the Palestinian problem, which Palestinians claim can only be solved by the creation of a Palestinian state. This is the ine Kashmiri separatists who reside outside
The UN has noticed this as do like China , the other permanent members of the security council. To remove one problem, it appears that Modi has created another huge problem.
Every Indian has to be aware of the above.
How does: ” one nation and one Language, where in the 3 language formula, Northern States, do not want to know a South Indian Language, but Southern state have to learn Hindi, promote national integration? Tamil Nadu and Kerala will oppose this, and there goes the integration. Modi is barking against a wrong tree.
