MUDA Chairman D. Dhruvakumar has said that the long standing land dispute at R.T. Nagar will be resolved through talks. Presiding over a MUDA meeting at MUDA Hall here yesterday, Dhruvakumar said, several farmers have come forward to resolve the dispute through talks and as such MUDA will make efforts to vacate the Court stay and take measures for allotment of sites at R.T. Nagar.
The meeting, which went on for nearly six hours, discussed various issues including distribution of sites in R.T. Nagar, allotment of CA sites and handing over maintenance of Ring Road to National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), among others.
Distribution of R.T. Nagar sites: Pachhegowda and three other land owners, claiming that they were paid inappropriate compensation for their lands at R.T. Nagar, had brought a stay from Karnataka High Court against distribution of sites by MUDA, which was a setback for MUDA’s ambitious plan of allotting 2,200 sites in R.T. Nagar.
Later, MUDA moved the Supreme Court, which directed the Karnataka High Court to resolve the issue. As per SC direction, the Karnataka HC took up the case.
Even as the High Court began hearings in the case, the previous MUDA Chairman K.R. Mohan Kumar came forward to hold talks with the farmers. However, the land loser farmers were reluctant to come to the talking table and as such the issue persisted. Now, the current Chairman Dhruvakumar and MUDA Commissioner Dr. M. Mahesh have succeeded in convincing the farmers.
As a result of the fruitful talks, the farmers expressing willingness to resolve the issue through discussions, have written to MUDA in this regard.
Following the receipt of the letter, the MUDA authorities are now looking forward for discussion with the land owners to end the dispute and to allot sites to the applicants as per rules.
The meeting held a prolonged discussion on allotment of 63 CA (Civic Amenities) sites that was pending for over five years and resolved to issue a fresh notification for allotment of 250 CA sites. The other important decision taken at the meeting was to hand over the maintenance of 42-km long Outer Ring Road to the NHAI.
The MUDA meting, which took up the issue of title deeds in respect of bit of land adjoining EWS and LIG houses, decided to fix 25% of the guidance value in that particular area. It also decided to impose a 25% penalty whenever buyers seek title deeds on landed properties that were sold without title deeds.
The other important decision made was to comprehensively develop Bal Bhavan in Bannimantap by setting up an entertainment park with private sponsorship.
