Mysore/Mysuru: With the Corona pandemic extending its wings across the country with each passing day, the Mysuru District administration has stepped up measures to contain the deadly virus.
The District Surveillance Cell of the Health and Family Welfare Department has pu 201 persons in city under surveillance, out of which 132, including 13 foreigners, are kept in house isolation.
However, no person has been admitted in the isolation ward at K.R. Hospital so far. Out of the 132 persons under surveillance, 69 including 26 foreigners have completed their 14-day isolation.
The health authorities, after collecting 26 samples from across the district, sent them to Viral Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) attached to MMC&RI, where all of them tested negative for Coronavirus. As such there is no positive case in the district so far and the people should not be unduly scared, the health officials said and added that there are a total of 39 foreigners out of the 201 under surveillance in the district.
Meanwhile, DHO Dr. R. Venkatesh said that all persons returning from countries affected by COVID-19, whether infected or not, and also all those who are in close contact with them, should compulsorily undergo a 14-day house isolation at their homes.
Also those who show symptoms of Coronavirus should immediately visit a hospital and get themselves tested.
The people should compulsorily maintain personal hygiene, cleaning their hands with sanitiser or soap regularly and also keep their surroundings clean, he pointed out.
