Displaced tribals from Veeranahosalli to be provided land soon: DC

Mysuru:  A meeting of Forest Department officials, Revenue officials and tribal leaders was chaired by Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep at his office here on Wednesday.

Randeep asked the officials to take necessary steps to provide land to residents of Veeranahosalli tribal settlement under the rehabilitation scheme who have been displaced from Nagarahole forest range.

Briefing the meting, ACF Prasanna Kumar disclosed that the said tribals have been rehabilitated in six phases.

He further said that 250 tribal families have been rehabilitated and 731 acre of land has been identified.

He added that steps have been taken at the directions of the Government to distribute the land.

Hunsur Assistant Commissioner Nithish said that the survey work has been completed and demarcation of borders was on to commence the distribution work.

Tribal Movement Crusader M.B. Prabhu appealed the DC to distribute land to the displaced tribals at 5 acres per family immediately.

The tribal leaders have demanded that the land earmarked for them should be notified as restricted area and labelled as Tribal Revenue Village with all basic facilities.

Tribal Welfare Officer Shivakumar, RFO Madhusudan, DRFO Naven Kumar, Tribal leaders J.A. Harish, B.K. Somu, G.A. Sannappa, J.K. Kariya and others participated in the meeting.
