Dy. SP Vijayakumar critically injured

Hunsur: The car in which Hunsur Excise Department Dy. SP K.T. Vijayakumar and his family members were returning from Tirupati met with an accident on the National Highway in Andhra Pradesh in the wee hours of Friday, killing Dy. SP’s father and critically injuring the Dy. SP.

Luckily, Excise Inspector Lokesh, who was driving the car, Dy. SP’s mother and elder sister have escaped uninjured.

The deceased is Girigowda (80) and the seriously injured Vijayakumar has been admitted to a private hospital in Bengaluru.

After having darshan of the Lord the Dy. SP and his family were returning to Bengaluru in a car and the accident took place at about 1.30 am, while overtaking a truck on the Highway.

Girigowda, who was sitting next to the driver, was killed on the spot, while Dy. SP Vijayakumar, who was seated on the rear seat, sustained serious injuries.

The last rites of Girigowda were held at his native place Kesthur in Maddur taluk yesterday.
