Chinchani Mutt Seer passes away

Chikkodi: Chikkodi taluk’s Chinchani Sidda Samsthana Mutt Seer Allamaprabhu Swamiji (63), who was popularly known as ‘Kannadada Swamiji’ in local circles, passed away at KLE Hospital in Belagavi on Sunday following prolonged illness.

The Seer, who was indisposed for several months, was admitted to Belagavi Hospital on                             Saturday, where he passed away on Sunday after failing to respond to treatment.

Allamaprabhu Swamiji was known for propagating Hinduism and at the same time worked for the cause of Kannada in the border district.

His body was brought to Chinchani Mutt, where thousands of devotees paid their last respects to the departed Seer.

Later his mortal remains were sent to Shirol Mutt in Gadag district for the last rites,                                            it is learnt.

He was first appointed as Shirol Mutt Seer in Naragund taluk of the now Gadag district in 1991 and subsequently headed the Chinchani Mutt after taking charge on July 1,1994.
