This refers to the news item “Women throng banks to avail Jan Dhan benefits” in Star of Mysore dated Apr. 8. I wish to clarify as follows for information of the public and the beneficiaries.

The benefits of such payments initiated by the Government are transferred through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

The amount will be credited to the account of the beneficiary to which the Aadhaar number has been most recently linked. As most of us are aware people have opened accounts in more than one bank and have generally given Aadhaar card copies to link Aadhaar to their respective accounts.

Every bank uploads this for updating in NPCI server. Once this is updated in NPCI server all such credits, namely, Pension, Gas subsidies, OAP, Widow Pension etc., will be credited to the account to which Aadhaar is linked.

We have been making this known to everyone in forums like Gram Sabha, SHG meetings, Schools, Colleges etc.
