Mandya: Miscreants in the guise of Police, not only threatened a couple from Kodagu but have also decamped with 30 gram gold chain worth Rs. 2 lakh from them.

The incident took place near Ganjam in Srirangapatna yesterday early morning.

Yesterday, the couple from Kodagu, left Bengaluru and were proceeding towards Madikeri in their car. When they reached near Ganjam in Srirangapatna, a gang of miscreants, posing as Policemen, stopped the car, threatened the couple with machetes and decamped with 30 gram gold chain worth Rs. 2 lakh.

The couple have lodged a complaint with Srirangapatna Police, who have registered a case and are investigating.

Miscreants, posing as Cops, have already committed dacoity on Mysuru-Bengaluru Expressway thrice earlier and this is the fourth case.

The miscreants usually target parked vehicles or cars moving slowly on the Expressway. They pose as Policemen, make the passengers alight from their vehicles and rob them of valuables, which has created fear among the public.
