Mysuru to host South Zone Inter-University Cricket

106 Universities to take part in Championships to be held from Nov.28 to Dec.11

The Department of Physical Education (DPE), University of Mysore (UoM), will be hosting the South Zone Inter-University Cricket (Men) Championships (2019-20) in Mysuru from Nov.28 to Dec.11.

A record number of 106 Universities from South India will be taking part in the Tournament which will be played on a knock-out format in different grounds in Mysuru city.

Oct.19 was the last date for entries and a total of 31 Universities from Karnataka, 35 from Tamil Nadu, 20 from Andhra Pradesh, 10 from Telangana, 1 from Puducherry and 9 Universities from Kerala have confirmed their participation.

The matches in the initial rounds up to the quarter-finals will be played on a 30-overs-a side basis. The matches from quarter-finals will be played on a 50-overs a side basis.  Matches will be played at SDNR Wadiyar Grounds, JSS-SJCE Grounds, Maharaja’s College Grounds, Gangothri Grounds, MIT Grounds, Village Hostel Grounds and JSS (Medical) College Grounds.

Jain University, Bengaluru and UoM, last year’s winner and runners-up in the South Zone Inter-University Cricket Tournament, will be seeded.

Accommodation for the participating Universities has been arranged at KSOU, Youth Hostel, University Sports Pavilion, according to Dr. P. Krishnaiah,  Director (in-Charge),  DPE, UoM.
