“Technology has made communication across the globe almost instantaneous but establishing contacts between two minds in a family has not been possible at that pace yet,” bemoaned Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri, Vice-Chairman of Mata Amritanandamayi Math and President of Amrita University. He was speaking at the satsang, bhajans and meditation programme ‘Amrita Sandhya’ organised by Mata Amritanandamayi Math at Senate Bhavan in Manasagangothri here last evening.
The Swamiji observed that technological growth had brought down religious and spiritual values thus establishing a huge wall of jealousy, hatred and selfishness among minds of people in society. He added that the sequential effect was people drifting away from family life and bondage. He pointed out that globalisation, liberalisation and digitalisation have been achieved at the cost of religious and spiritual values which invariably has brought down humility in every individual.
Continuing, the Swamiji said, “Thanks to technology, the world has virtually become small but the relationship and bondage among people in society have apparently fallen miles apart.”
B.R. Pai of Vijay Foundation, M. Venkataram, RSS leader, Ramatheertha of Aravinda Parimala Works, O. Sham Bhat, Advocate and others were present on the occasion.
